Work assignment
The Individual contractor will be requested to undertake the following activities:
- Conduct data collection, data analysis and produce comprehensive statistics, numbers and synthesis by groups of respondents, by theme and by evaluation question;
- Undertake systematic desk reviews of key documents, or sets of documents, to help answer key evaluation questions;
- Undertake systematic literature reviews, to help answer key evaluation questions;
- Assist the evaluation team in collecting data, identifying data sources and reports, interviewing stakeholders and staff;
- Assist the evaluation team in analysing data, documents and other sources of information as well as statistics through data summaries graphics, briefing notes, scorecards and/or other means of synthesizing all primary data analysed;
- Provide concrete analytical inputs to preliminary and final evaluation results and ultimately contribute to drafting segments of evaluation report; and,
- Support other OIOS-IED initiatives as required and necessary.
Ethics
The thematic assessments and evaluations will be conducted in accordance with the principles outlined in the UNEG “Ethical Guidelines for Evaluation”. The individual contractor should demonstrate independence, impartiality, credibility, honesty, integrity and accountability to avoid and bias in the evaluation.
Qualifications
- A university degree in political science, international affairs, social sciences, law, business administration, public administration, evaluation or a related field;
- At least 1 year of relevant professional experience in research, design and management of evaluation processes with multiple stakeholders;
- Demonstrated experience in qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis skills including survey and research methodologies, data visualization tools and analytical writing are required;
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and knowledge of NVivo and SPSS are desirable;
- Knowledge and prior experience working on international development evaluations is required;
- Familiarity with the evaluation subject matter (international humanitarian law, international criminal law) is desirable, as is knowledge of the IRMCT.
- Fluency in English (reading, writing and speaking) is required. Knowledge of French, s desirable.
Duration of the contract
The duration of the contract will be for a period of 40 days(with few exceptions, 5 days per week) over the period from November 2023 – January 2024, on a daily rate of between US$ 220.00 to US$400.00 per day based on experience and qualifications.
